Brinkley Bell Ringers

Brinkley Church has the only set of bells in our Benefice which can be rung by an actual band - six bells, all in excellent condition.  For years, there was no band to ring but a few of us got together before the pandemic and with the support of the District association, learnt how to ring safely and were starting to develop further.  We also then combined with West Wratting as they were also short on numbers.

With the pandemic and other individual personal circumstances, we are once again short of regular ringers and would love to be joined by anyone who has rung before or is interested in learning.

If you are interested but have no experience, then there would be a commitment to learn the basics (including safety) and we now are able to teach new learners.

If you would be interested in a chat then you would be welcome to come along and meet us at a practice night (from 6 Feb we will be fortnightly on a Monday from 7pm) or contact Liz Gibson via this link.  You can also visit our facebook page via this link

More information on how to become a ringer can also be found here: https://cccbr.org.uk/bellringing/learn/

Practice Night!

Our practice night is every other Monday from 1900 - 2030.  We always welcome visiting ringers to our Tower - please do contact Liz via email to check which dates we are ringing just to be sure you don't waste your journey!

Opposite picture is our practice on 20 February.

Ring for the King - Saturday 6 May 2023

Brinkley Bell Ringers, joined with some bell ringing friends from West Wratting and Balsham joined to Ring for the King after the Coronation.  We rang for 45 mins at Brinkley and then move onto St Andrews at West Wratting to ring from there too!

Friday 9 September 2022

Today the bells were muffled and joined others across the country in being rung for an hour from 12 noon following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.  They will remain muffled and rung for the hour preceding her state funeral.  Although bells are half muffled for Remembrance Sunday, they are only fully muffled for the death of a monarch.  Those ringing had also never heard fully muffled bells before - you will hear the tenor bell is only half muffled so comes through more strongly on every other stroke.

Celebrating the Life of Captain Sir Tom Moore

Brinkley Bell ringers joined in the nationwide tribute to Captain Sir Tom by tolling a bell 100 times on Saturday 27 February at 12 noon, the time that his funeral began.  We took some beautiful footage of Brinkley Church with the bell tolling in the background - you can see the footage below.

Ringing for 75 Years since VJ Day - Saturday 15 August 2020

We rang one bell 75 times for VJ day - we had been hoping to ring as a band properly for the first time at VE day in May but unfortunately Covid-19 got in the way!

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
