Brinkley Bell Ringers

Brinkley Church has a wonderful set of bells and now has a newly formed band to ring them.   A group of enthusiastic beginners have been supported by local bell ringing groups (thank you Phil Gorman and team!) and Stretham Rec to learn how to safely and properly ring.

Brinkley has the only set of bells that can be rung by a band in our benefice.  Therefore it is really great to have people learning to ring them from within our villages.

Practice Night!

Our practice night is every other Monday and we have had a lot of positive comments about how much we have improved.  Unfortunately Covid came along and did its thing and so these pictures are of our last practice in March 2020.  Supported by some experienced ringers from other nearby churches.

Celebrating the Life of Captain Sir Tom Moore

Brinkley Bell ringers joined in the nationwide tribute to Captain Sir Tom by tolling a bell 100 times on Saturday 27 February at 12 noon, the time that his funeral began.  We took some beautiful footage of Brinkley Church with the bell tolling in the background - you can see the footage below.

Ringing for 75 Years since VJ Day - Saturday 15 August 2020

We rang one bell 75 times for VJ day - we had been hoping to ring as a band properly for the first time at VE day in May but unfortunately Covid-19 got in the way!

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
