Stetchworth held a Christmas Tree Festival on Saturday 8 December. During the Festival there was the very exciting and well deserved presentation of the British Empire Medal to our very own Lily Whymer for her services to the community of Stetchworth over the last 25 plus years. Lily's family and friends were joined by many members of the community and there were performances by Kettlefields School Choir and the Kitchen Choir (of which she is also a member). Her BEM was presented by the Queen's Representative, the Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Julie Spencer. Also in attendance were the Deputy Lord Lieutenant Colonel Colin Elsden DL, the High Sheriff Dr Andrew Halter and his wife, and Chairman of Cambridgeshire County Council, Mandy Smith. It is believed to be the first royal representative to visit the church since Queen Philippa visited the church in the 1300’s!
