Brinkley

St Mary's Church, Brinkley is built in the perpendicular style from the 14th/15th century with Victorian restorations.  St Mary's can seat approximately 200 people.

Our bells and tower were restored in 1985/86 and we are very lucky to have a group of bell ringers who are able to offer bell ringing for weddings and celebrations.  The peals sound really beautiful.

We have two regular services each month - a said (no music) Holy Communion service on the first Sunday of each month at 9.00 am and a Morning Prayer service on the third Sunday of each month.  Like other parishes, we have special services at different times in the year and welcome you to any of our services.

Today the bells were muffled and joined others across the country in being rung for an hour from 12 noon following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.  They will remain muffled and rung for the hour preceding her state funeral.  Although bells are half muffled for Remembrance Sunday, they are only fully muffled for the death of a monarch.  Those ringing had also never heard fully muffled bells before - you will hear the tenor bell is only half muffled so comes through more strongly on every other stroke.
